Job Description

Maintain MEPPI’s relational database environment integrity in terms of both efficiency and security. Provide systems administrations support to core infrastructure

  • Administer the MEPPI relational databases including installation, maintenance, security, troubleshooting, and tuning of multiple database application environments and services.
  • Document and test database processes and work with network administrators to meet or exceed service level requirements which include database availability, backup and recovery plans.
  • Collaborate with application developers in streamlining application system design and architecture to ensure stable and optimal database operation.
  • Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support and maintain distributed systems in both local and remote locations.
  • Determine feasibility, compatibility with existing systems, and capabilities of current systems to meet the expectations of end-users.
  • Resolve application and system incident requests in a timely manner.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the IT Department by conducting business with other MEPPI departments, consultants, suppliers, etc., in a timely and cooperative manner.
  • Know MEPPI’s Quality, Safety and Environmental policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer-related field with a minimum 5 years of experience as a database administrator in a manufacturing or industrial environment or equivalent education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of relational database management systems (MS SQL Server 2005 and above) and reporting tools (SQL Server Reporting Services, Crystal Reports).
  • Advanced knowledge of active directory management and server management 
  • Advanced knowledge of business intelligence, web services, document management (SharePoint), and programming infrastructure (.NET Framework).
  • Advanced programming and troubleshooting skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills required to communicate with employees and vendors.
  • Ability to analyze processes and develop solutions to enhance operations.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Minimum Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 5% domestically as required.
