We are searching for a dynamic, results driven, product development oriented Engineering Section Manager to join our team.

As the Engineering Section Manager you will manage the design, development, and project engineering functions and staff for designated product lines and other programs of the Transportation Systems Division (TSD).

· Direct project activities and improve processes associated with system engineering and development to meet customer technical commitments, strategic growth initiatives, project schedules and contract deliverables.

· Lead and direct staff according to Company policies and procedures to effectively achieve division and department objectives. Develop employees by training, cross-training and providing continuing education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and provide input for salary decisions.

· Collaborate with Mitsubishi Electric Company (MELCO) in Japan to ensure compliance with contract technical specifications, the development of technology transfer methods and to support engineering and qualification testing.

· Prepare engineering resource plans and coordinate resources with Program Managers to support projects and engineering production issues.

· Collaborate with Supply Chain for localization of materials, components and systems.

· Ensure Quality Assurance has support for the development and delivery of training for TSD products test procedures, design reviews, First Articles of Inspection and Pre-Ship Inspection.

· Analyze product designs and support price reduction initiatives.

· Review all Incident Reports and take corrective action related to TSD engineering.

· Support application engineering efforts of the sales function and provide resources for bids.

· Prepare and manage Engineering section budget.

Job Description and Requirements

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum 7 years of engineering experience with companies that manufacture electrical products and a minimum 3 years of management experience, or equivalent education and experience.

·         Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communication with employees, vendors and customers.

·         Advanced skills in developing team approaches for working with sales and project personnel.

·         Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time as required.

·         Advanced ability to read, interpret and understand technical intent of customer-supplied drawings, technical specifications and testing requirements.

·         Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.

·         Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office Products and engineering software.




·         Previous rail experience a PREFERRED

·         Previous CBTC experience a PLUS

·         Japanese Language skills a PLUS
