Job Description
Perform service support activities, troubleshoot and repair single and three-phase uninterruptible power supplies and peripherals to internal and external customers. Schedule technical sales or service support for customers including when there are emergency service calls.
- Perform on-site customer service of UPSD products to include start-up service, preventative and remedial maintenance field modification, and testing.
- Provide technical support to internal and external customers, including third-party service organizations and end users, via telephone and email.
- Inspect and test returned products and components and systems to determine defects and/or operational status
- Schedule and provide emergency technical support and field service on an on-call basis.
- Work with other UPS departments including Engineering to determine product solutions for improved performance and protection.
- Identify, evaluate and repair routine product failures.
- Support and make recommendations to improve Company policies and procedures.
- Recommend service product offerings for the long-term maintenance of the capital investment; e.g., battery upgrades.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions to a board level in a UPS system.
- Troubleshoot and repair UPS system failures with minimal guidance.
- Instruct less experienced technicians on troubleshooting system failures.
- Maintain service records and documentation of services provided.
Basic Qualifications
- Associates in Electrical Electronics or related technical field plus 2-5 years’ experience in troubleshooting and repair of a technical, electrical and/or electronic product or equivalent education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Developed knowledge of UPS products, services and peripherals.
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency of mechanical and electronic test equipment.
- Developed verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate with others on all levels, including customers, in a professional manner.
- Developed computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products and MRP/ERP business systems.

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 75 pounds on occasion.
- Ability to work in outdoor and indoor environments as required to perform work.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs and high places as required during customer visits.
- Ability to use appropriate personal protection equipment as needed.
- Proficiency in oscilloscopes, voltage current power meters, power analysis meters, load banks and related equipment.
- Ability to work with others to accomplish goals.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 65% to perform job duties and satisfy customer commitments, often on short notice.
- Hold a valid driver’s license
