Mitsubishi Electric Substation Division (SSD) provides an incredible suite of turnkey professional services to the power utility and commercial & industrial marketplaces. Job Description and Requirements

Job Description

Design battery power storage solutions for customer projects. Support creation of proposals in response to customer specifications, RFP / RFQ and technical information requests for grid battery storage projects.

  • Perform engineering activities that support the design and installation of energy storage solutions for customer projects.
  • Collaborate with factories, MEPPI engineering staff, and third party suppliers to identify available energy storage solutions.
  • Visit project site locations to provide product support as needed.
  • Address technical and commercial design requirements with customers that result in complete SSD products.
  • Assist sales engineers to prepare and submit technical and commercial budgetary and firm proposals for products/services in response to customer’s interest, need and RFQs. Propose and evaluate cost reduction initiatives.
  • Develop creative solutions to battery storage engineering design challenges for projects that have been entered, incorporating MEPPI content.
  • Develop solutions to mechanical, electrical and structural challenges.
  • Collaborate with project management to define development schedules and project construction requirements.
  • Interface with internal and external resources to ensure optimal integration of the Battery and subsystems into the overall product packaging. This includes meeting with other MEPPI divisions to create harmonic and black start solutions incorporating battery technologies.
  • Support Quality personnel during product delivery and implementation.
  • Organize the preliminary designs created for customer opportunities that have been developed, in a manner that makes the information available to sales and project engineers that need it.
  • Maintain electronic database regarding bids and provide regular and special reports from database.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business or other related degree with 0-2 years’ experience in energy storage batteries and related equipment, or equivalent education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Intermediate knowledge of energy storage technology and emerging uses.
  • Intermediate knowledge of electric utility substation product lines.
  • Developed interpersonal skills with ability to maintain relationships with diverse customer and supplier groups.
  • Developed computer skills, emphasizing knowledge of MS Office products. 

Minimum Physical Requirements

  • Ability to communicate and influence customers and suppliers to adopt approaches that include MEPPI solutions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and related materials.
  • Ability to travel domestic up to 30%. 
  • Ability to travel international on occasional basis as required.
  • Ability to work in outdoor and indoor environments as required to perform work.
  • Ability to climb ladders, catwalks, stairs and work in high places as required during customer visits.
  • Ability to use appropriate personal protection equipment as needed. 
  • Ability to stand and walk rough terrain occasionally at customer visits. 
  • Ability to drive and hold a valid driver’s license.
