Supervise the assembly, subassembly, testing, material handling and warehouse activities of MEPPI Rail Products (MRP) in assigned areas and shifts while maintaining a positive employee relations and work environment.    

  • Supervise daily activities of the manufacturing and warehouse staff according to Company policies and procedures to effectively achieve Company and Department objectives.  Emphasize positive employee relations.
  • Supervise production operations to ensure the quality and quantity of product produced meets the customer’s requirements and remains within budget.
  • Supervise staff by communicating job expectations; monitoring and appraising job performance; and providing coaching and training.
  • Maintain and monitor employee quality control check sheets, disciplinary actions, attendance, vacation and paid absence records.
  • Ensure Technicians are working safely and following proper safety procedures.  Conduct accident investigations and prepare and maintain reports.
  • Collaborate with logistics to ensure timing and availability of inputs.  Manage offsite inventory of incoming material and finished goods as required.
  • Receive and review all job paperwork, including Job orders, late releases and MRR dispositions and assign work accordingly.
  • Report product delivery and order status information to sales and program management.
  • Design, prepare, implement, and update processes, work instructions, and other Operational documents.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement measures to optimize factory performance and quality of product.
  • Make recommendations for site staffing and budget needs.
  • Update and report on operation metrics.  Make recommendations for tracking measures.
  • Communicate regularly with other Transportation Systems Division (TSD) product lines to coordinate production, policies, and procedures to maintain consistency throughout the Division.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Transportation Systems Division through effective dealings with customers and other internal departments and divisions

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in technical or business field, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment and 3 years’ supervisory experience, or equivalent education and experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Intermediate interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate and maintain effective relationships with customers, employees, and suppliers.
  • Advanced knowledge of assembly, materials and testing techniques, processes and methods.
  • Advanced computer experience with emphasis on MS Office and ERP/MRP business systems.

Minimum Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time as needed.
