Job Description and Requirements

Job Description

Perform all essential functions of a supporting project engineer for multiple, concurrent small to medium SSD project orders, or one large project order. Function as lead project engineer for multiple small SSD project orders or one medium project order.

  • Design and coordinate the multiple components and systems which comprise a MEPPI SSD project order. 
  • Review order documents to ensure that MEPPI meets the technical requirements of the contract, including all exceptions, clarifications, and confirmations to the customer’s technical specifications.
  • Develop and execute engineering tasks for power electronics-based substation projects and gas-insulated substation projects including but not limited to, equipment design, interface with MELCO Japan engineers, outside contractor involvement, substation construction and testing.
  • Participate in order turnover meetings and all customer and project meetings
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of all drawings and documents required to support the order, such as bills of material, purchase specifications, requisitions, instruction books, test plans, etc.
  • Provide support during the manufacturing, installation and testing phases of a MEPPI SSD project
  • Provide technical support to Project Manager in technical matters
  • Support the organization and archiving of all documents after order completion
  • Provide field problem troubleshooting & resolution for existing equipment.
  • Cost reduce and improve various standard components, new equipment and subsystems used in multiple MEPPI SSD projects. 
  • Support the preparation of proposals for new orders, including preparing technical and purchase specifications, cost estimates and drawings.
  • Understanding of basic design concepts and industry standards as related to substation design.
  • Provide supervision at the installation site during construction, and testing.
  • Assure resolution of all customer and supplier technical questions.  Provide field problem troubleshooting and resolution of existing equipment.
  • Support and make recommendations to improve Company policies and procedures.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the division through positive interaction with other MEPPI Divisions and vendors.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 0-2 year’s experience via full-time employment, internships, co-op programs, or equivalent education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Developed analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Developed computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products, CAD software, and ERP/MRP systems.

Minimum Physical Requirements

  • Ability to communicate with others to complete work.
  • Ability to read, understand, and create technical drawings and material.
  • Ability to analyze data.
  • Ability to use office equipment and tools, such as: PC, photocopier, fax machine, etc.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites (25%)
