Job Description

Perform all essential functions of a supporting project engineer for single or multiple TSD projects as required. Function as lead project engineer for multiple TSD products and services.

  • Work with Itami engineering to design, develop and coordinate multiple components and systems of TSD propulsion, HVAC and train communication.  Coordinate same for external component subcontractors.
  • Review order documents to ensure they meet technical requirements of contracts, including exceptions, clarification and confirmations.
  • Participate in order placement, MELCO, customer and project meetings.
  • Work with the Programs Department in the preparation and maintenance of Project Document Schedules, Contract Deliverables and other contract requirements.
  • Prepare or supervise preparation of drawings, bills of material, training manuals, maintenance manuals and documents in support of orders.  Ensure appropriate archiving of same after order completion.
  • Provide manufacturing and testing support as required.
  • Prepare & present customer training
  • Provide expertise and support in multiple disciplines to other engineers.
  • Work with Itami engineering to develop various standard components, new standard equipment and standard subsystems used in transportation systems..
  • Assure resolution of all customer and supplier technical questions.  Provide technical support to the field service organization during equipment installation, customer acceptance testing and throughout the warranty period.
  • Support TSD proposal efforts by reviewing and commenting on customer technical specifications.  Assist TSD sales in obtaining aftermarket component and service orders.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Transportation Systems Division by effective dealings with customers and other internal departments.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering plus a minimum of 3 years experience in a project related environment or with high voltage power electronic control systems, or equivalent education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Developed knowledge of propulsion subsystems, field installation and test experience.
  • Developed computer experience, with emphasis on MSOffice products, CAD and engineering analysis software.

Minimum Physical Requirements

  • Travel (approx. 25%) as necessary.
  • Ability to use office equipment and tools, such as: PC, photocopier, fax machine, etc.
  • Ability to communicate with others to complete work.
  • Ability to read, understand, and create technical drawings and material.
  • Ability to analyze data
