About the Division

Our High Voltage Switchgear Division is the flagship business at Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. for the past 30 years.  Our power circuit breakers cover a full range of voltages from 15 kV class to 550 kV and developments are underway at 800 kV. These breakers have interrupting ratings from 25 kA to 80 kA. All of our breakers are thoroughly tested in state-of-the-art facilities, including the High Voltage Lab, High Power Lab, Environmental Test Lab, and Seismic Test Lab of the Mitsubishi Electric ITAMI works in Japan.

Job Description

Supervise the in-process quality control staff and provide technical and quality control support for the High Voltage Switchgear Division (HVSD). Direct staff to ensure products are built and tested according to customer and MEPPI specifications and quality requirements while maintaining production flow and a positive employee relations and work environment.  

  • Supervise the daily activities and staff required to ensure in-process and testing quality of finished goods according to company specifications with emphasis on positive employee relations.  
  • Lead staff according to Company policies and procedures to effectively achieve Company and department objectives.
  • Supervise staff by communicating job expectations; monitoring and appraising job performance; and providing coaching and training.
  • Provide technical support and advice to employees in the manufacturing, engineering and sales departments to prevent and/or remedy quality problems.
  • Participate in Kaizen events as necessary.
  • Investigate and assist in the disposition of quality problems by reviewing quality trends, tracking the root cause(s) of the problem(s), coordinating corrective actions and implementing appropriate adjustments. Resolve inquiries to satisfaction in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Review quality trends to prevent or reduce defects. Support and make recommendations to improve Company policies and procedures.
  • Supervise the rework of all non-conforming material in the 512 Building.
  • Perform quality audits as required.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of inspection areas, test areas and nonconforming material hold areas.
  • Assure all materials throughout the facility are correctly identified. Assure nonconforming material is identified, tagged, and traceable to a MRR.
  • Assure maintenance and calibration of in-process instruments, test equipment and tools.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of HVSD through interaction with other MEPPI Departments and vendors.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in a technical field with a minimum 5 years of experience with quality control/inspection and 2 years of management/supervisor experience, or equivalent education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of quality control, engineering, production and statistical methods and techniques.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate and maintain effective relationships with employees, customers and suppliers.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and material.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office Products and ERP/MRP systems.

Minimum Physical Requirements

  • Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time as needed
